Kate Oliva
storyteller. filmmaker. strategist.
Kate is an
LA-based storyteller, filmmaker,
and strategist.
Kate Oliva wants to make you laugh and change the world (ideally both). Born and raised in NY, she is a compulsive storyteller with a passion for intersectional social change. Through comedy and character-driven narratives, she seeks to foster empathy and shift our views on ourselves, community, and society as a whole.
Over the last 14 years, she has written, produced, and directed editorial and video content for production companies, brands, tech startups, and nonprofits. In all of its varied formats (feature documentary, surrealist short film, branded digital series, op-ed, personal essays), her work weaves strategy and narrative to tell stories that make a difference, whether that’s uplifting a social cause, centering excluded narratives, or simply making people think.
Highlights include THE POSSIBILITIES OF REGENERATION with the Oscar and Annie-winning Jason Carpenter Animation team; digital series GROW WHAT YOU KNOW with Kiss the Ground and Elektra Records; short documentary STORIES OF REGENERATION: YADI WANG about regenerative agriculture in Arizona; feature documentary THE DEATH BOOM, from Appian Way and QC Entertainment; and campaign ads for progressive female candidates through Women for the Win.
Kate is currently developing three scripted TV comedies, producing several indie film projects, and consulting on TV, film, and audio content for Good Energy, a climate storytelling nonprofit.
